Attention Grant County Artists! Main Street Marion wants you to join us in our 2015 public art campaign, BenchMark! BenchMark is a public art project intended to uplift, inspire, and ‘tickle the fancy’ in a colorful and creative way. We welcome designs of an original, vibrant, humorous and uplifting nature. As the Grant County seat, we strongly encourage creative representations that honor the unique attributes of the Marion/Grant County community and region. Designs must be appropriate for public display.
Our summer public art exhibit around the Grant County Courthouse square gives you…
- A public showcase for your talent
- Optimum exposure through increased pedestrian traffic downtown around the Courthouse Square
- Media attention throughout the region and beyond
- Continued exposure since the benches will remain on the Courthouse Square
- A means to give back to the community
The committee is dedicated to funding high quality work of art that will make a lasting impact in downtown Marion. Artist entries must be received by July 3, 2015. Work will begin immediately on July 13th upon announcement of the top 8 artists and with the goal of the murals being complete by early August 24th.
View, download, or print the artist application at http://www.mainstreetmarion.com or pick up a flyer and application at our office at 422 East 4th Street in downtown Marion. Please email email@example.com if you have any questions.
The Top 8 Finalists voted on by the community will receive bragging rights, privilege of painting a bench on downtown Marion’s Courthouse Square, and the opportunity to win a CASH PRIZE if our committee selects you as one of the Top 3 Artists!
- 1st Prize – $150
- 2nd Prize – $100
- 3rd Prize – $50
A People’s Choice Award will be given to the person that receives the most votes from the community.
On behalf of Main Street Marion and MSM Design Committee, we want to sincerely thank you for your support of BenchMark. There is something incredibly powerful about the community coming together to make a collective impact in downtown and Marion as a whole. We look forward to receiving your feedback!
